Vanguard Properties has announced the appointment of Henrique Rodrigues da Silva as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), replacing Alexandre Berda, who will now assume the role of chairman. The transition will take effect on 18 February, the company confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Henrique Rodrigues da Silva previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Norfin. Alexandre Berda, who took over as CEO in September, is the son of Claude Berda, founder of Vanguard Properties, who recently passed away.

Berda stated that “this transition has always been part of our plan”, noting that Vanguard is entering a “particularly demanding execution phase”, with over 700,000 square metres of real estate currently under development. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Portugal and to its sustainable growth strategy.

Henrique Rodrigues da Silva, who holds a degree in Architecture from the Technical University of Lisbon and a Master’s in Construction Management from Instituto Superior Técnico, said he takes on the role “with a strong sense of responsibility and in full alignment with Vanguard Properties’ strategic vision, aiming to ensure high levels of operational efficiency in delivering current projects and expanding the company’s footprint in Portugal”.

In an interview with Jornal de Negócios, Alexandre Berda previously highlighted that Vanguard is entering a robust execution phase, with a broad pipeline of developments. Among them is a project to build housing in Grândola – Comporta specifically for workers employed in local hospitality units, addressing workforce needs in the region.
