Recognition highlights authenticity, sustainability and quality of the tourist offer
Alentejo and Ribatejo were highlighted in the 2025 edition of the Boa Cama Boa Mesa Awards, promoted by the Expresso newspaper, which for more than two decades has recognized quality and innovation in the tourism sector in Portugal.
In catering, the restaurant ÒBalcão, in Santarém, was distinguished with the Golden Fork. The space, led by chef Rodrigo Castelo, has asserted itself by valuing Ribatejo cuisine, using local products such as river fish. Also in the sector, the Herdade do Esporão Restaurant, in Reguengos de Monsaraz, was distinguished with the Silver Fork, evidencing a culinary approach based on Alentejo tradition and environmentally responsible practices.
In the accommodation, two Platinum Keys were awarded to Herdade da Malhadinha Nova (Beja) and São Lourenço do Barrocal (Reguengos de Monsaraz), in recognition of the quality of the experience offered and the integration with the territory. The Golden Keys were awarded to Quinta da Comporta, Sublime Comporta (both in Grândola) and Torre de Palma Wine Hotel (Monforte), distinguished by their architecture of excellence, commitment to sustainability and differentiated experiences.
The Silver Key was awarded to Herdade do Sobroso (Vidigueira) and L’and Vineyards (Montemor-o-Novo), both showing a deep connection to wine culture and comfort combined with local identity.
In the Sustainability – Bed category, the highlight was the Craveiral Farmhouse, in Odemira, distinguished by its commitment to regenerative tourism practices, integration with the community and connection between hospitality, agriculture and nature.
“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our tourism professionals. The excellence of our hotels and restaurants, combined with the commitment to sustainable practices, positions the Alentejo and Ribatejo as reference destinations”, said José Santos, president of the Regional Tourism Entity of Alentejo and Ribatejo.
With a diversified offer ranging from nature tourism to the luxury segment, through traditional gastronomy and culinary innovation, Alentejo and Ribatejo reinforce their position as sustainable and authentic destinations, attractive to national and international visitors.
