The “Grow with Tourism” programme funds 12 tourism initiatives across Portugal, including projects linked to the Alentejo, focusing on nature, gastronomy, culture and well-being.

Tourism of Portugal has allocated €4.5 million in funding to 12 tourism projects, representing a total investment of around €11 million.

The signing ceremony for the contracts took place in Porto and was attended by the Minister of Economy, Manuel Castro Almeida, and the Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services, Pedro Machado.

The supported initiatives are spread across the North, Centre, Alentejo and Ribatejo regions and involve public authorities, private companies and associations. The projects focus on several strategic tourism segments, including Nature TourismGastronomic TourismActive TourismWellness Tourism, and Cultural and Heritage Tourism.

In the Alentejo, a region that has increasingly positioned itself as a distinctive destination within Portugal’s tourism landscape, these initiatives aim to enhance local resources and strengthen the connection between tourism development, territorial cohesion and regional economic activity.

The funding is provided under the “Grow with Tourism” (Crescer com o Turismo) programme, launched in February 2025 with a total budget of €30 million. The programme seeks to encourage the sustainable development of territories, promoting social and environmental responsibility, while supporting projects focused on innovation, qualification and the valorisation of tourism resources.

Through this initiative, tourism authorities aim to reinforce the role of tourism as a driver of economic growth and social cohesion, contributing to the competitiveness of destinations and the sustainable development of regions such as the Alentejo.
