The Secretary of State for Local Administration and Spatial Planning, Silvério Regalado, was in Mourão this week to monitor the development of strategic projects for the municipality, with emphasis on the construction of the new Municipal Nursery.
This infrastructure, currently under construction, will be the first municipal public nursery in the municipality of Mourão and the only one of its kind in the entire district of Évora, representing a significant advance in supporting families with children up to three years of age.
During the visit, the municipal executive took advantage of the presence of the governor to reinforce the request to maintain the funds approved in 2019, under the BEM Program, intended for the rehabilitation of the Town Hall.
The work was inherited with significant execution problems, which led to the unilateral termination of the contract. This decision will allow the relaunch of a new public tender, with the aim of recovering around 100 thousand euros previously paid as an advance, the municipality said in a statement.
Another project presented was the proposal to expand and modernize the space for pre-school education at the headquarters of the Mourão School Group. This intervention is being discussed with the group’s management and is part of the municipal strategy for the continuous requalification of the school park.
The education sector has been a priority in the last four years, registering record levels of investment and budget execution, the municipality also stressed.
