Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception was carried through the streets of Vila Viçosa on 8 December, a date of deep religious significance for the community. The traditional procession drew thousands of devotees who accompanied the image of the town’s Patroness through the main streets in an atmosphere of solemnity and devotion.
The procession advanced with the statue of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception carried on a decorated platform, followed by a large crowd of believers from Vila Viçosa and neighbouring municipalities. Many attended to fulfil promises, express gratitude, or simply take part in a tradition that has shaped local identity for generations.
Throughout the route, moments of silence, prayer and reflection marked the celebration, highlighting the spiritual importance this day holds for the calipolense community.
