Beja, September 1, 2025 – The Polytechnic Institute of Beja (IPBeja) has opened a new University Residence with capacity for 503 students, through a partnership with the Casais Group and IKEA. The investment amounts to 17 million euros.

The infrastructure includes 327 accommodation units, including single, double and studio rooms, including 15 rooms adapted for students with disabilities. In addition to accommodation, the building offers common spaces such as living rooms, study areas, kitchens, dining areas, laundry, gym and technical areas.

The collaboration between the Casais Group and IKEA began in 2023 with the presentation of Tiny House at the Nova Arcada shopping center in Braga, and is now extending to the student accommodation sector.

Built with the CREE Buildings system – a hybrid solution that combines wood and concrete – the residence focuses on efficiency and sustainability. This is the second project of the Casais Group with industrialized construction, after the residence in Valença. Another project, the Confiança University Residence, in Braga, is currently under development.

The projects in Beja and Braga include IKEA furniture, worth more than 500 thousand euros. In addition to supply, the brand participates in the design of environments that promote the well-being, functionality and integration of students.

“This project demonstrates how it is possible to combine quality, innovation and sustainability, creating a conducive environment for students. We are very pleased to see the Beja Residence almost completed and convinced of the positive impact it will have on the academic community”, said António Carlos Rodrigues, CEO of the Casais Group.

“At IKEA we believe that all students deserve spaces where they truly feel at home. The bedroom in a residence is, for many, the first home away from home. This project demonstrates how we can support the response to the lack of student accommodation, contributing to the well-being of young people”, said Leandro Teixeira, CFO of IKEA Portugal. The new IPBeja residence represents a significant reinforcement
