Beja hosts today the ‘Heritage of the South’ fair, dedicated to wine, culture and the regional economy.

This Thursday, October 2, 2025, in Beja, the new edition of the “Patrimónios do Sul” fair, dedicated to the promotion of wine, agricultural production and traditional culture of the south of the country, starts. The event runs until Sunday, the 5th, at the Manuel Castro e Brito Fair and Exhibition Park.

Organized by the Municipality of Beja, in collaboration with regional and national entities, the event aims to enhance the economic, cultural and tourist resources of the region.

“This event represents a strategic commitment by the municipality to regional development, through the enhancement of the tangible and intangible heritage that characterizes the south of Portugal,” underlines the municipality in a statement.

The musical program starts daily at 10:30 pm and opens tonight with Van Zee, followed by The Gift on Friday and Buba Espinho & Guests on Saturday. On Sunday, the highlight is the children’s show with Bia Alegria, at 11:00 am. There will also be Alentejo singing and DJ performances throughout the event.

Admission is free and visitors will be able to explore several thematic areas such as “Beja Educa”, “Southern Arts”, “Hunting, Fishing and Nature”, “Beja Brava”, “Avibeja” and the tavern area with regional cuisine.

“Vinipax — Wines and Sensations of the South” is one of the most prominent areas, with 40 exhibitors from Portugal and Spain, representing 60 producers and more than 350 wine references. The invited region is Trás-os-Montes.

“In addition to the tasting and direct purchase of wines, the public will be able to participate in pairing experiences in the ‘Sul à Mesa’ space,” says the organization.

The “Alqueva Market”, promoted by EDIA, brings together 10 local producers linked to the Alqueva irrigation, with direct sale to the public.

The “Patrimónios do Sul” fair runs until October 5, promoting the most authentic that is produced and lived in the south of the country.
